If you live in the city limits of Tulsa and have some unwanted items that need disposing; take it to the Quarry Landfill on 46th Street North (approximately 1-1/2 miles east of U.S. 169.

The address is 13740 E. 46th St. North
Hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
The landfill closes promplty at 3 p.m.
** Look for Quarry Waste Mangement Inc. signs **

All participants must show a driver's license with and address within the city of Tulsa or a City of Tulsa utility bill.

Items containing Freon refigerant (air conditioners and refigerators) will not be accepted.
There is a $2 fee for each discarded tire (it covers state fees for disposal and recycling of tires).

If you are wondering which way to vote on the October 9th river tax proposition then this forum is for you!

Here are the details from TulsaNow:

Speakers from both sides will be on hand to present their views and answer questions from the audience. Ken Busby, Executive Director of the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa will be the moderator.

Don’t miss this unique chance to hear speakers from BOTH sides of the debate. Jean Letcher, “River Yes” campaign director, and Gaylon Pinc, Environmental Manager for PMg will speak in support of the river proposal. City Councilor, John Eagleton and Colin Tawney will speak in opposition to the plan.

Conceptual drawings of the plan will be on display for public viewing before and after the program.

University of Tulsa season football tickets are on sale now.

Individual game tickets will be available online beginning Saturday, September 1st at 8:30 am.
Tickets will go on sale in person or by phone on Tuesday, September, 4th at 8:30 am.

I have heard that the TU vs. OU home game will be selling for $70-75. So, buying a season ticket is a great deal.

The Renaissance and Turner Park Neighborhood Association meeting is set for June 21^st at 7:00 pm in the Kendall-Whittier Library. The community meeting room is accessible from the east door of the parking lot. The TU agenda will include the projects: Performing Arts Center, renovation of the football stadium to be named H.A. Mortgage rate averages 3/30/07

The nation's benchmark mortgage rate did not change this week, staying near the lowest level for the year.

The average 30-year, fixed-rate home loan is still going for 6.16 percent, government-affiliated mortgage giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday after conducting its weekly nationwide survey.

The rate compares to the low for the year of 6.14 percent, set during the first two weeks of March. That was the lowest point for 30-year mortgages since they averaged 6.13 percent the week of Dec. 21.

Frank Nothaft, chief economist for Freddie Mac, said the troubles in the subprime real estate market, which provides loans to borrowers with weak credit, do not seem to be having an impact on rates so far.

"Despite concerns about possible spillovers from the troubles in the subprime market, rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages remained stable," he said.

OKLAHOMA WINS AGAIN!

Last night my wife was watching the 2007 Miss America Pageant. At the end of the pageant, it came down to Oklahoma and Texas. I only watched the end, but my wife said that she was impressed with Miss Texas. We were so excited and a little surprised to see that Miss Oklahoma won the award twice in a row. Last year it was Jennifer Berry from right here in Tulsa; and this year it was Lauren Nelson of Lawton. Congratulations to the new Miss America!

The Buried Belvedere

"This is the sort of thing that could happen only in Tulsa," spoke Lewis Roberts Jr. during dedication ceremonies marking the observance of Tulsa's Golden Jubilee Week. "TuIsarama!" chairman Roberts' made his remarks as citizens prepared to entomb a new 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe as part of a time capsule buried on the southeast corner of the Tulsa County Courthouse lawn.

Why would anyone want to bury a new car? Roberts was asked. "The 'Tulsarama!' committee," he replied, "decided on the event after looking for a method of acquainting the citizens of the twenty first century with a suitable representation of 1957 civilization."
